Fairy House Chandelier by RataBlancaTreasures Fairy House Chandelier by RataBlancaTreasures
One rainy evening, when the rain was going outside, there appeared an idea of making a chandelier out of polymer clay. And I wanted to make it really magical, so yeah, here it is, kinda inspired by fairytales.

So lovely. The colours are bright and eye-catching without being obnoxiously in-your-face about it, and also I just love that colour combo. I also like that it would have been super easy to just plonk it on a table and take photos indoors, but you went the extra step and did a proper little photoshoot to show it in its "natural habitat".

Regarding room for improvement, I'm in agreement with SinistrosePhosphate in that I'd love to see detail shots and/or turnarounds of the piece, and maybe something like a ruler or a coin in one of the images to provide a sense of scale.

Thank you so much! :) Well, yeah, it doesn't look as cool on the table, while it definitely brings cosy feeling, but for photos... Nah, not really  it =D I'll take into account your suggestion about scale. But in this case it is designed for usual tealight (not sure if there is any specific size for them, but more or less they all are still the same, so it could give some impression about size.) This one is already given away as a gift, so not sure about turnarounds, but will fix that for next projects. Thank you for you kind words and suggestions once again :)

As far as I know, tealights only come in the one size, so saying it's made to fit a tealight does give me a better idea of how big it is.

This is lovely, it looks like if it is growing on the old tree. It would be lovely to make a path through the forest illuminated by this type of lanterns.

Oh, that indeed would be, but the path on which I made the photos, is quite long. Well, if local government pays me for materials and time spent while doing another fairy lanterns, it would be cool though =D Around 80-100 lanterns would be quite cool :)
Thank you so much :3

A little glowing fairy house! That is beautiful! I love the bright colors on the roof. What did you use for the light?

It was the glow of fairy that is already living inside and loves her new home :) But seriously, it is a usual tealight, using the fairy house exactly for the same purpose that it was made for.

There were some more of these fairy houses that were made before, might make a journal post to show them, because they are similar to this one, but in different colours! :) Would you like to see them?

Great way to represent the theme, I could tell this was  a fairy house from the very first second. I love that it's slightly imperfect, not symmetrical, but very charming... it really looks like it was constructed by tiny hands with a bit of magic :) did you add an actual light inside? because that's simply brilliant and super cute! Also the photograph works great for that rustic and magical atmosphere, great job finding the perfect moss for the photo.

perfect moss hehehe

Glad that you liked it! :)
Yes, there is a tealight inside, it is intended to be cute while using, a chandelier, after all :) I also love the outcome, you know, in head it usually looks way better compared to the result, but this one came out very close enough.

Yes, moss was perfect. While trying to find the best spot, got myself to the swamp, but it was worth it =D

Hello!

I can definitely see the fairy-tale influence on this piece. The whole image is rustic and quaint while dainty and delicate. In all, the idea was great and the execution even better. The little butterflies on the chandelier (maybe a "lantern" would have been a better description?) really tie the whole image together. I like the colour choices on this piece as well. It looks just mute enough to be real, but vibrant enough to evoke the idea of fairies living in them. I think the whole thing is wonderful!

If there's anything I can say about this piece to help make it better, I think it would be the photographic presentation at the end. I think you took three beautiful photos of this work and it would be really difficult to choose between them. But from a technical point of view it would also be nice to look at the details of the piece and maybe from other angles as well. Maybe you can consider doing a collage as a final presentation in the future. It's food for thought. And I hope it might help.

Overall, this has been a beautiful piece of work that has been brilliantly executed.
Keep up the good work! :w00t:

Thank you so much for your kind words and suggestion, it seems like really good idea to make a collage, haven't considered it seriously until now. This one is already out of reach (was made as a gift), but for future projects I'll definitely make more close-ups :)

Glad that you liked it so much.

P.S. Don't know about lantern though, because maybe it is too small for it, but who knows, it might really look as the lantern in the garden. Ow, how magical garden that would be~

Hello!
You are more than welcome. I am glad that you found my suggestions helpful! :)

I really liked the piece. And I definitely hope to see more from you in the future! :)

The reason why I questioned about "lantern" is that this piece doesn't quite look like a "chandelier". Usually chandeliers is a lighting structure that holds more than one candle. If it holds only one candle it's usually called a "candle holder". A "lantern" may also hold one candle. Your piece looks like it will hold one candle comfortably. So I wondered if it should have been called a "lantern" instead?

This seems quite reasonable, always thought, that chandelier in English also is okay as a holder for one candle, the same as in my language. Well, it is time to make a level-up in English :3 Thank you for explanation and suggestion once again, and sorry for late reply.

Oh, that's not a problem at all. :)
English is not my first language, either, so I am always trying to learn new things. In my language, "candle-holder" is the word used for anything that holds candles... regardless of how many candles are involved. (I guess that means we went the opposite way! ^^;

Either way, it's great to hear back from you! :)

I absolutely love how sharp the colors are.  They really bring this to life, making it stand out.  Too often I see these little fairy houses in earth tones, but this is a wonderful change from that.

Thank you :) Well, I honestly believe, that fairies would prefer to live in more colorful houses, and it seemed reasonable to choose bright colors :)

So pretty, i love the colors. Did you use colored clay or paint them? If you painted this i am even more impressed, i have such shaky hands that i cant hold a brush still when i try to focus with it.

This is all painted with oil paint, somehow got more used to work with it. And on top of that a lacquer for gloss. Thank you for your kind words)

Strange thing? If I had to guess the illuminated center of the house or something occasionally being seen in your photos.
